Once you’ve decided on a desirable reading time, it’s time to select a book. Here are some of our top recommendations this Fall!
Chilling Thriller
The Last Word by Taylor Adams will keep you on the edge of your seat. This thriller has it all: a woman alone in an isolated house, an author who writes sadistic tales, and an online review that leads to bickering. The woman writes a negative review, and the author argues with her online. Then, distressing things start happening. Is it a coincidence, or is the author stalking and terrorizing her? You will not be able to put this novel down!
Fiery Romance
The Long Game by Elena Armas is not your typical romance. It’s full of spite and fire, as two worlds collide in a small town where the soccer team needs all the help it can get. Adalyn, who coached a Miami pro team, is there to do just that, but she’ll need the guidance of a retired soccer star. She has to turn around this team or lose everything. But it won’t be easy, what with the team wearing tutus, and goats at practice—and did we mention that they’re 9-year-old girls? Adalyn has her work cut out for her with the team and the retired star Cameron Caldani.
Intriguing Biography
Elon Musk is a bit of an enigma, but Walter Isaacson (who wrote the excellent biography of Steve Jobs) brings him to life as never before. Isaacson delves deep into his troubled childhood, showing how it still affects his life and how he runs his business. He shadowed Musk for two years, going everywhere with him and interviewing his family, friends, coworkers, and adversaries. His story reveals the trials and tribulations that led to Musk’s extremely high tolerance for risk.
Fictional Fraud
The Fraud by Zadie Smith is a mystery wrapped in historical fiction that will keep you enthralled to the end. The novel re-imagines the “Tichborne Trial,” a historical case when a lower-class Australian butcher claims he is the heir of a sizable estate and title. But the heroine in this story thinks he’s a fraud and sets out to prove her theory. This story is full of deception, hypocrisy, and of course, fraud.
