Game Day Gathering: Local Spots to Watch Your Team
It’s time for fall and football! Put on your team gear, get out your noisemakers, and head to a fun place to watch. Supporting your favorite team is more fun in a group, right? There are plenty of places in Georgetown to get your game on. Here, we preview three locations to consider.
District Six
District Six (D6) is a neighborhood sports bar in the Historic Square. They have everything you need for a football frenzy! You can watch on 21 TVs while you drink one of 40 draft beers and wines or have a craft cocktail. Those who don’t want to watch the game (what? seriously?) can play arcade games or trivia. The arcade is free from 3 PM-7 PM on Monday game nights.
You’ll want to grab some grub, too. D6 uses only fresh ingredients and makes most dishes from scratch! Share an appetizer like street corn queso (so good you’ll race to the bottom of the bowl). Then, enjoy a Smashburger or Buffalo schnitzel sandwich.
Hardtails Bar & Grill
For adult-only game watching after 4 PM, head to Hardtails Bar & Grill on I-35. If the weather’s agreeable, hang out on the massive outdoor patio. There’s an expansive bar, enclosed backyard, concession stand, and the Chicken Shack cold drink station. Go to watch a game and enjoy live music every Thursday through Saturday. Plus, you can play corn hole in the backyard or shoot pool inside during halftime.
Hardtails is known for fantastic burgers. They grind meat daily and make home-fried potato chips right in the kitchen. You know when you crave bacon, eggs, and biscuits for dinner? Well, they have you covered! Get breakfast any time of the day. For lunch or dinner, try shrimp slammers with jalapenos and cheese, a deep-fried hot dog (better than the state fair!), homemade chili, and Texas-sized wings. They also have whiskey and beer drink specials every day and karaoke on Wednesdays.
Hard Count Kitchen & Cocktails
To watch the game while you savor unique American food, head to Hard Count Kitchen & Cocktails. Gather on the outdoor patio and yard to eat, drink, and cheer for your teams. Go early to play games beforehand or have a friendly competition during halftime.
If you like fresh food, this may be your new go-to. Each dish is made from scratch with fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Start with bacon-wrapped quail, then have a Jamburger with bourbon bacon jam (that’s too much bacon, said no one ever!) or braised short ribs with pappardelle pasta and crème fraiche. During the game, sip on a classic cocktail or creative margarita invented by their pro bartenders. Try the Longhorn or Cadillac Ultima margarita for a fresh twist on an old favorite.
When the time comes to watch the big game, having local places that provide an unmatched atmosphere is essential — and Georgetown checks that box! If you’re more of a homebody and prefer watching the game from your couch, you’re in luck, too.
