Georgetown Sunset Movie Series 2023
Kick back and watch a free film in the park during the Georgetown Sunset Movie Series this June and August!
Two Fridays this summer—June 9 and August 11— Georgetown Parks and Recreation presents family movie nights at the Legacy Pavilion in San Gabriel Park, 445 E. Morrow St.
Bring a blanket, chairs, dinner, snacks, and drinks. If you arrive early enough, you can grab free popcorn provided at the park starting at 6:30 p.m. The movie nights typically draw more than 2,000 attendees.
All movies begin at dusk, which is about 8:30 p.m., weather permitting. If ever needed, a notice of cancellation will be posted on the parks and rec website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Fun Family Films
Both films are animated and family-friendly. On June 9th, you can catch Sing 2, a comedy about theater owner Buster Moon’s quest to produce a new musical featuring Clay Calloway, a legendary but elusive rock singer Moon’s troupe must find and persuade to perform. August 11 features Lightyear, the story of Buzz Lightyear’s adventures to infinity and beyond. Both movies are rated PG.
Food Vendors and Volunteers Needed
Local food vendors are invited to set up before each movie begins. Set up by 6:30 p.m. for each event.
If you want to help with the events, volunteer for set up, give out swag, or prepare and serve popcorn, go to the parks and recreation department’s volunteer website for more information or to submit your application.
