Tee Time: Georgetown Edition

Celebrate National Golfing Month with 18 holes at a course near Parmer Ranch! From tee to green, take advantage of this opportunity to appreciate golf’s unique blend of athleticism and strategy. There are several courses to choose from near Georgetown. But then again, why choose? Try them all! As the medieval Scots who invented the game would say: Give it laldy (do it with gusto)!

Speaking of medieval Scots, they loved golf so much that King James II banned it in 1457 because they ditched their military training to play instead. Yep, golf will do that to you. So celebrate responsibly.

Cimarron Hills Golf Club

Join Cimarron Hills Golf Club for a unique experience. This award-winning 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course challenges even seasoned golfers. You’ll need a thoughtful strategy, not just brute force, to conquer this 7,302-yard course. It ebbs and flows through stately oak trees, mountain laurels, creeks, and rolling terrain. And there are two golf pros to help you up your game.

Georgetown Country Club

Want to own a piece of a picturesque golf course? You can at Georgetown Country Club, a member-owned, private club with spectacular views of the San Gabriel River. The river comes into play 11 times in each round of golf. The soaring terrain rises and dips back into the canyon for a challenging and scenic game. It was built in the “Golden Age” of golf course architecture when beauty mattered almost as much as the lengths. The winding, wooded layout is not typically seen in modern-day courses. So remember to enjoy the scenery as well as the challenge.

White Wing Golf Club

Another beautiful course to enjoy is White Wing Golf Club in Del Webb’s Sun City, Texas. This 18-hole, par 72 course is open to the public. Course architects, Casper/Nash of Phoenix, incorporated existing natural features into their design. You’re surrounded by more than 20,000 oak and cedar trees and three lakes, more natural hazards you’ll have to master. Plus, you can perfect your game on the 9-acre practice range, a putting green, and a 3-acre short game practice area with two chipping greens, practice grass, and sand bunkers.
