A big part of our culture can be found in our food. There are so many great options to choose from when it comes to food and drink in Georgetown.

When you enter “restaurants in Georgetown, TX” into a Google search, there are over 10 pages of results. Good luck sorting through that!

While pretty much every restaurant is a safe bet for great food, there is one that you definitely don’t want to overlook when it comes to Southern-inspired cuisine: Goodfolks.

Goodfolks opened their doors in Georgetown’s downtown in October of 2021, and it’s been a huge success. Located near the courthouse, it’s a welcome part of our bustling downtown. A big reason why it’s a favorite in Georgetown is the unique character of the food.

Goodfolks’ chefs specialize in elevated comfort food that draws from southern favorites. Chef Justin Manzi boasts “the crispiest fried chicken you’ve ever had,” and he backs it up. It really is something special.

Goodfolks does everything they can to make each dish taste just like, “something Grandma made.” Other favorites on the menu include:

  • Chicken and Waffles
  • Truffle Mac and Cheese
  • White Pimento Cheese
  • Fried Pickles
  • Crawfish
  • Hush Puppies
  • Biscuits and Gravy
  • Pies
  • Boozy and Craft Milkshakes
  • And More!

A Peek Into What Makes Goodfolks Special

Before opening, Jayme Austin (a creative consultant in the restaurant industry) jumped at the opportunity to be a part of the team behind Goodfolks. She saw the potential of launching a Southern-inspired eatery that prides itself on excellent food, service, and style. Jayme told Hello Georgetown that Goodfolks is highly focused on the experience customers have.

“We put out a good, comforting vibe where people can come in and they don’t feel rushed or want to be pushed out of here,” Mitchell Donahue, General Manager at Goodfolks, told Hello Georgetown.

“The idea is to feel like you’re going to a family member’s house and you’re more than welcome to stay as long as you like and if you want pie a half hour after you eat dinner, then that’s not an issue. We have a full-service bar, we have boozy milkshakes and we really want people just to stay and feel at home.”

If you’re looking for a fun, tasty, and authentic experience on your next date night or family outing in Georgetown, give Goodfolks a shot. You won’t be disappointed by the food, service, or atmosphere that the team brings each and every day.
