Wine Down in Downtown Georgetown
‘Tis the season to be jolly with good wine and great friends! It’s all about bonding and making memories with your people, and the wineries in Downtown Georgetown are perfect places to gather. You could plan a winery crawl to visit all four in one day or try them each on a different day. Either way, here’s the information to plan your holiday get-togethers (or just any get-together!).
Kork Wine Bar
With more than 250 wines, you’ll find something for everyone at Kork Wine Bar! This is the only place on our list that is not a true winery because they don’t make their own wine, but their wine list is filled with domestic and international varieties. They even have organic and biodynamic wines from California, Oregon, France, Spain, Italy, and South Africa.
Your group can also have tasting portions of most of the offerings, and there are plenty of snacks to share—charcuterie boards, Neapolitan-style pizza made using dough made the traditional Italian way, salads, and desserts. Oh, and you can also bring your furry friends so they don’t have to miss the celebration!
Baron’s Creek Winery
The tasting room at Baron’s Creek Winery features the winemakers’ own Texas whites, reds, and rosés. The winery offers tasting experiences on the outdoor patio, in their piano lounge, and at the 50-foot wine bar. You can reserve a tasting and space for your group or just wing it and gather around the bar. They also have special events like bottle-painting, where you buy a bottle of wine, and then choose a design for the artist to create on your bottle while you drink the contents.
Grape Creek Vineyards Winery
Reserve a spot for your group to try one of the tastings at Grape Creek Vineyards Winery for a unique experience guided by experts who help you compare and contrast the styles and characteristics of the different wines. They have varieties made in Texas and California, including four sparkling wines that are the first of their kind made in Texas. You can enjoy many unique wines by the bottle or glass, like their Cab Blanc, a rosé with notes of strawberry jam, loganberry, and honeysuckle, or Prosperity, a blend of cabernet sauvignon, syrah, merlot, and petit verdot, all produced at the vineyard in Fredericksburg.
Georgetown Winery
Georgetown Winery is the place to go for award-winning wines made in Texas. Take your friends and family for a daily wine tasting and take home souvenir glasses to commemorate your fun. If you go on a Friday or Saturday night, you’ll also be treated to live music from local performers. You can try their special wines like UnOaked Chardonnay, not aged in oak barrels so it has a slightly sweet finish, award-winning Chocolate Cherry Port, and Big Tex, a blend of Sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon, and merlot. Share snacks like a cream cheese tray or artichoke jalapeno dip!
