Looking for more of a weekend getaway? Here are 3 fun Labor Day trip ideas if you’re planning to head out of town this Labor Day weekend…

Mustang Island State Park

Mustang Island is just southeast of the city of Corpus Christi, about a 3.5-hour drive from Georgetown.

This destination features over five miles of open beach and is one of the most popular family beaches in Texas. The park offers an amazing location for any activity under the sun: great camping, picnicking, fishing, beach combing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, sunbathing, surfing, and more.

Facilities in the park include campsites with water and electricity, primitive beach sites, shaded picnic areas, restrooms, and showers.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park

Readily accessible by car, motorhome, or fifth wheel, Palo Duro Canyon is the most spectacular and scenic landscape feature in the Texas Panhandle. It’s about a 7-hour drive from Georgetown, but it’s worth it.

With a descent of some 800 feet to the canyon floor and more than 16 miles of paved road, Palo Duro Canyon State Park offers fantastic scenic views, miles and miles of hiking and biking trails, a variety of camping & parking areas suitable for day trips, overnight tent camping, or extended stays in the largest of campers and motorhomes.

Marfa, “America’s Coolest Art Town”

Vogue dubbed Marfa “America’s Coolest Art Town” earlier this year. Located 7 hours to the east of Georgetown, it’s well worth the trip if you’re into edgy and immersive art and shopping.

There are a few quaint bars, restaurants, and hotels to enjoy if you’re making a weekend out of it. Several unique clothing and jewelry stores dot the town if you want to pick up something special for you or someone you care about.

Labor Day Done Right

If the 7-hour drive to Marfa for specialty shops and quirky art exhibits isn’t your cup of tea, Georgetown can offer up more than enough fun this Labor Day Weekend. Lately, lots of people are deciding to stay in Georgetown…
