Living in Georgetown, Texas

One of our favorite things about life in Parmer Ranch is the city that we call home — Georgetown. Residents of Georgetown already know what makes this small city so wonderful, but if you’ve never visited, allow us to boast about our hometown for a moment.

It’s All Happening Downtown

Georgetown is one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas where a walk down Main Street still feels like small-town Americana. Residents and visitors alike can enjoy free parking in several public lots, though traffic is never much of a problem, and well-defined crosswalks and walker-friendly traffic lights make it easy to stroll to numerous restaurants and shops.

Our downtown might be small, but it’s anything but sleepy. In fact, we’d say it’s quite lively. From the art galleries and one-of-kind clothing boutiques to annual events like the Blazin Beer Crawl and Red Poppy Festival, there’s always something exciting happening!

The holiday season is an especially fun time in Georgetown. The Lighting of the Square (November 26) kicks off the season with a luminous holiday lights display, followed by Small Business Saturday. Holiday shoppers are invited to visit the numerous shops and restaurants, many of which will be offering special promotions. Meanwhile, the festive weekend concludes with Artist Sunday; a highlight of the season with local artisans and craftsmen displaying and selling their goods.

Not to worry if you can’t make it, because the next weekend is full of festive fun as well. Like we said, there’s always something going on in Georgetown. On December 3 and 4, the city celebrates the Christmas Stroll — now in its 40th year! The whole weekend is full of fun for all ages with a holiday parade, photos with Santa, more than 150 vendors, and a living recreation of the manger in Bethlehem.

Food and Fitness

There’s no doubt that with all the excitement you’re bound to work up an appetite. While our citizens enjoy close proximity to Austin (just 30 minutes) and nearby Round Rock, Cedar Park, and Leander, you don’t have to venture far for a good meal. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick sandwich, something sweet, or something healthy, Georgetown has a thriving food scene. From wineries to international cuisine and world-famous Hill Country barbecue, our restaurants offer something for every palate.

Parmer Ranch and Georgetown are lucky to call one of the most beautiful parts of the state home. We enjoy warm weather for a good duration of the year and don’t have to look far for an excuse to get outside and take advantage of the fresh air. Whether it’s biking along the San Gabriel River or hitting the numerous hiking trails, the city has a beautiful and well-maintained parks system to be enjoyed by all.
